Effective October 26, 2026 · Beta version
The short version
- We store your sessions so the app works, and we never sell your data.
- What you type, sketch or say to Meg is processed by Google's Gemini AI.
- If you use the microphone, your browser's speech service turns your voice into text.
- No ads, no tracking pixels, no analytics cookies.
- Email us any time to see or delete your data.
What we collect
- Your practice sessions: the target code, your sketch, your sensory notes, your conversation with Meg, the comparison score, and timestamps. These are stored on our server.
- Beta and workshop sign-ups: your name, email, what you're interested in (the RetroView beta and/or the Artist Identified workshop), and the optional answers you give, whether you sign up here or on artistidentified.com.
- Feedback: what you write, your rating, which step of the session you were on, your browser type, and an email only if you add one.
- Technical data: your IP address is used to apply daily usage limits and appears in standard server logs.
- On your own device: the app saves your current session, your unsent notes and sketch, and preferences like Meg's voice in your browser's local storage. This never leaves your device unless you submit it.
Meg and Google Gemini
Meg is powered by Google's Gemini AI. When you chat with Meg or lock in a session, your messages, notes and sketch are sent to Google for processing. During the beta, RetroView uses Gemini's free tier. Google's terms for that tier allow Google to use submitted content to improve its products, and human reviewers may read it. Please don't share sensitive personal information (health details, passwords, financial or identifying information) with Meg.
Meg never sees your target before you lock in. The target is sealed on our server until the reveal.
Voice
The hands-free microphone uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. Depending on your browser, your voice may be sent to that browser's provider (for example Google for Chrome, or Apple for Safari) to be transcribed. RetroView receives only the resulting text, never your audio. Meg's spoken replies are generated by your own device.
Other services
- Fonts load from Google Fonts, which means Google can see your IP address when the page loads.
- Hosting: RetroView runs on servers in the United States.
How we use it
- To run your sessions, compare your impressions with the target, and let Meg respond.
- To contact you about beta invitations, the workshop, updates and the launch.
- To improve RetroView using your feedback and how sessions go.
We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Session records are kept so features like session history can work. Beta sign-up details are kept until the beta ends or you ask to be removed. You can ask us to delete any of your data at any time.
Your choices
- You can use RetroView without the microphone, and turn Meg's voice off.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or to be removed from beta emails.
- Clearing your browser's site data removes everything stored on your device.
Age
RetroView is intended for adults and isn't directed to children under 13.
A note on what RetroView is
RetroView is a practice and self-exploration tool. Remote viewing is an area of open debate, not established science, and Meg is a practice partner, not a medical or mental-health professional.
